Mumm has been in Napa and Sonoma for 50 years. Their Estate vineyard is located in Carneros, where they grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Gris. This California Mumm Sparkling wine is made in the Traditional GH Mumm style of Pinot Noir (49%), Chardonnay (46%), and 5% Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris.
Mumm says it has contracts with over 50 California growers to procure grapes for their wines. This Brut Bubbly lists for $25 on Mumm’s website, but can often be found discounted this time of year.
In France, Champagne Houses rarely grow enough grapes in their own vineyards and routinely contract grapes from Champagne growers to produce their wines.
The Mumm Sparkling Brut Prestige (2025) is made in the same way as French Champagne. France has plenty of regulations on how to grow grapes and produce wine, while California has few required regulations.
The main difference, other than that GH Mumm grapes are grown in Champagne and Mumm grapes are grown in coastal California, is that the 2nd fermentation in France is a minimum of 18 months, and the Mumm Brut Prestige is 16 months.
The alcohol content is 12.5% and Brut indicates this is a Dry or not sweet Bubbly.

The color is pale golden yellow. The nose is melon, lemon, Green apple, spice, brioche, pear, and peach. The Mumm Sparkling Brut Prestige (2025) is rich and chewy, a very satisfying drink.
This California Bubbly tastes like a stew of apple, peach, lemon, and pear, with spice, dried strawberry, nectarine, and pink grapefruit.
The acidity is balanced and allows the flavors to fully unfold.
