The Story
The Trader Joe’s Reserve North Coast Brut Rosé (2025) is a Sparkling wine that has been available at Trader Joe’s for the last couple of years. We reviewed last year’s version here.
Trader Joe’s introduced the Platinum Reserve Napa But Rosé, $14.99, this year. I figured I would revisit this wine to see how it stacks up to the $5 more expensive bottle.
The Trader Joe’s Reserve North Coast Brut Rosé (2025), according to the Fearless Flyer, sources the Pinot Noir from Sonoma, with the Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier possibly from Sonoma or Mendocino, Lake County, Napa, Solano, or Marin County. Those are rhetorical AVAs that comprise the North Coast AVA.
This Bubbly is produced in the Traditional Method, which is the same as used in Champagne, France.
Champagne, France, has strict rules and regulations concerning the farming and production of Champagne; California leaves the rules up to each producer.
Bubbly producers achieve a “House Style” to differentiate their Sparkling Wine from the competition. Trader Joe’s isn’t a Sparkling Wine House; they contract Rack and Riddle to make them Bubbly. While traditional Bubbly strives to be consistent year after year, Trader Joe’s Bubbly can change each year.
The alcohol content is 12.5%

This Bubbly tastes like cherry candy (not sweet), grapefruit, lemon/lime, spice, and faint brioche bread. Then tart cranberry, raspberry, and a hint of vanilla.
The acidity is well managed.
