The 2009 Cold Heaven Make Peace Pinot Noir is a blend of 2 different Pinot Noir vine clones from (50%) Sta. Rita Hills and (50%) Santa Maria Valley AVA’s of Santa Barbara County, California. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, this is a small production, handmade Pinot Noir.
The color is a combination of orange and red with a clear halo. The nose is a complex stew of forest floor, crushed autumn leaves, menthol, a medicinal note, tart cherry and mellow plum. There is a solid dose of acidity evident from the first sip of this Pinot, it tastes of tart, slightly sour cherry, with licorice and herbal tea. A well made Pinot with good structure and wonderful length, the flavors are vivid and long lasting. The finish is strong and long lasting.
The Cold Heaven Make Peace Pinot Noir is not an inexpensive wine, this is a special occasion, affordable luxury wine (around $35). This is a bottle you bring out when good friends and family get together and only something special and unique will do.
