The Marqués de la Concordia Cava MM Special Selection Brut 2022 is a Costco $12.99 import, Sparkling wine from Eastern Spain.
The Story
The Marqués de la Concordia has been in business since 1882 and has holdings in both Rioja and the Penedes (Cava). Their Estate in the Penedes, in the town of San Sadurni d’Anoia, is the heart of Cava countries with over 80 Cava producers in the region.
This is a vintage dated Cava which is special. A typical Cava and any other value Sparkling wine is non-vintage. They blend several vintages together to keep the flavor profile the same year after year.
Vintage Cava is only produced in what is deemed to e an exceptional year in the vineyard.
This July uses a blend of 3 grapes, 40% Macabeo, 30% Xarel-Lo, and 30% Parellada, these are White grapes indigenous to the area and commonly used to make Cava.
This is a Brut Bubbly it is a dry wine, and the method used for the 2nd fermentation is the same used for Champagne. The second fermentation occurs in the same bottle that you uy at the wine shop.
Regular Cava has the 2nd fermentation lasting a minimum of 9 months, since this is a special bottling may have been extended, but the production notes do not give a specific length.
The alcohol content is 11.5% and this Bubbly is vegan friendly.

The color is pale gold. The nose is lemons, apple, melon, and yeasty bread, along with spice and dried pineapple. The Marqués de la Concordia Cava MM Special Selection Brut 2022 has a firm mouthfeel and good flavor.
This Cava tastes like lemon-lime (not sweet), green apple, peach, a shot of spice, Anjou pear, a hint of creme, and pink lemonade.
The acidity is balanced and does its job well.
The Summary
The Marqués de la Concordia Cava MM Special Selection Brut 2022 is a lovely Value Bubbly.
One major wine reviewer gave it 92 points while the other awarded 86 points, so this wine may not be for everyone.
But, it is a Costco bargain that sips nicely.
