The original vineyard was small but they have branched out and now have contracts with top growers in the main growing regions of New Zealand. I have never sampled a wine from the Ti Point Peninsula, so I was slightly disappointed when I noticed Marlborough on the label.

Marlborough growing region is situated on the northern tip of the South Island and the vineyards are located around the various Bays on the east and west sides of the Island. Marlborough specializes in Sauvignon Blanc. When New Zealand wines first came on the scene excellent and affordable Pinot Noir was as plentiful as the Sauvignon Blanc, but in the ensuing years Sauv Blanc has dominated exports.

The Kirkland Signature Ti Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022 is a young wine with little aging and should consumed sooner rather than later. Value-priced Sauvignon Blanc is typically produced in a relatively simple manner. How the grapes are pressed and the temperature for fermentation can vary, plus the years used to start fermentation can vary from winery to winery. But these are wines without heavy manipulation from the winemaker. The alcohol content is 12.5%.

This Sauvignon Blanc tastes like a stew of pineapple, grapefruit, Green apple, and pear. The mid-palate adds some tasty spice, peach, tangerine, and a salty sensation, with a hint of stone fruit. The flavors are balanced, and the acidity allows the flavors to unfold and give this $7.49 wine good length.

The Summary

  • The Kirkland Signature Ti Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022 tastes good.
  • A $7.49 New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that brings all that is desirable about NZ Sauv Blanc and leaves out the spikey parts is a BARGAIN.
