The grapes for this wine are grown in Sonoma County AVA, a large AVA with many sub-AVAs and multiple soil and climate conditions.
The Kirkland Signature Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 was aged with French oak; they do not specify the method, but any use of French oak in a $6.99 wine is a welcome addition.

The color is a raspberry jelly red with black highlights. The nose is ripe blackberry, a touch of herbs, a little mocha, plum, spice, and blueberry. Kirkland Signature Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is ripe and smooth upfront with some spice and sour flavors on the mid palate.
The Cabernet Sauvignon tastes like blackberry, licorice, raisin spice, a slight pull from the tannins (a welcome feature in a $6.99 Cabernet Sauvignon), and strawberry, followed by cranberry, and dusty mocha.
The tannins are in the mix and do their job well; the acidity lets the flavors fully unfold.
