The Story

Flora and Stone Cabernet Sauvignon

Fetzer makes affordable wines and is a certified B Corporation. Here is a quote from the Fetzer website, As a Certified B Corp, we are committed to caring for our workers, communities, and the environment in everything we do.

Fetzer, owned by Viña Concha y Toro wines, whose brands include Bonterra and Cono Sur.

The Flora and Stone Cabernet Sauvignon is non-vintage, indicating that it is made from grapes harvested in different years. It is a good way to use all their excess juice and make an additional profit.

There are also Flora and Stone Merlot, as well as a Gewürztraminer.

There are no tasting or production notes, so we have no usable information on the wine. The alcohol content is 13%.

The Flora and Stone Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Notes

The color is a semi-transparent garnet red. The nose is ripe berries, both black and red, a little spice, and a little herbs. The Flora and Stone Cabernet Sauvignon is on the light side of medium-bodied, with fruit-forward flavor.

This Cabernet Sauvignon tastes like blackberry, black pepper, a little exotic spice, and plum, with a whiff of vanilla.

The tannins are muted, and the acidity is balanced.

The Summary

  • The Flora and Stone Cabernet Sauvignon is an OK Cab Sauvignon; for my tastes, I would pay a few bucks more.
  • It isn’t a bad wine, I like my Cabs a bit richer and fuller.
  • But at $6.99, the price is right.
