The Aldi Castellore Gavi DOCG 2024 is an Aldi wine, priced at $9.99. We previously reviewed the 2022 vintage and were impressed, so we sampled a newer vintage to see if the quality is maintained.

Castellore is the brand name Aldi uses for value Italian wines. The brand is used for Chianti, Pinot Grigio, Primitivo, and others. It looks like an umbrella brand for all the various wines.
Gavi is the Cortese grape farmed in the Piedmont district of Italy. It is either a White wine or a Sparkling wine., It is a White wine. It is a grape that can be oak-aged and made to be cellared for years.
This is a DOCG wine; the G stands for guaranteed. It is the quality that is guaranteed; the rules and regulations for the vineyards and the winery are strict.
Gavi is considered to be THE White wine of the Piedmont, and Barolo is THE Red wine.
Gavi was one of the first popular exported Italian WHite wines; Pinot Grigio is a more recent favorite.
This wine has done well in reviews, with some critics issuing 90+ points.

The Aldi Castellore Gavi DOCG 2024 Tasting Notes
The color is sunshine yellow. The nose is a little shy, there is peach and pear, and a little tropical fruit, followed by stone fruit and light spice. Castellore Gavi DOCG 2024 is silky on the palate with smooth, rich flavor.
This Gavi tastes like apple, lemon, Anju Pear, and a hard-edged spice. Then, nectarine, dried pineapple pieces, and peach. The acidity is well incorporated into the body of the wine.
