The Bouchard Ainé & Fils Chardonnay 2024 is a wine I discovered at Costco, priced at $9.99. It is available elsewhere in the $12 range.
The Story
Bouchard Ainé & Fils is a renowned winery with roots dating back to the early 1800s. They specialize in the wines of Burgundy, France, which are mainly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the different terroirs of the region.
They are currently part of the Boisset Collection, predominantly wines from France and California, along with spirits. The Boisset Collection is a project from Jean-Charles Boisset (known as JCB), who was named Person of the Year 2024 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
The Bouchard Ainé & Fils Chardonnay 2024 is sourced from vineyards in the south and the west of France, along with Chardonnay from Burgundy, which they referred to as adding extra value using grapes from the Chardonnay native soil.
The grapes from the separate vineyards were fermented separately and then blended to taste. A quarter of the juice was aged on oak for 4 months, with the rest aged in stainless steel. This is a drink-it-now wine that should taste fresh and alive when new, so grab the 2024 vintage.
The Bouchard Ainé & Fils Chardonnay 2024 Tasting Notes
The color is shiny and more silver than yellow. The nose is fresh and enticing, floral with ripe peach, a hint of cream, Anjou pear, and coconut milk. Then, stonefruit and tropical fruit. The Bouchard Ainé & Fils Chardonnay 2024 is soft on the palate with a mix of fruit and citrus.
This Chardonnay tastes like apple, pineapple, pear, lemon chiffon, soft spice, apricot, nectarine, and tropical fruit.
The acidity provides the structure to allow the flavors to fully unfold.
The Summary
- The Bouchard Ainé & Fils Chardonnay 2024 is another terrific value summer sipper.
- Give it a light chill and let the flavor do the rest.
- While it will pair with light, interesting salads and some seafoods, this wine is made to be an enjoyable sipping wine.
