Biokult Grüner Veltliner 2015

Biokult Gruner Veltliner e1481171161188The Biokult Grüner Veltliner 2015 is certified organic, certified biodynamically grown, and Non-GMO, sourced from vineyards in Burgenland area (inside Niederösterreich state) of eastern Austria. Grüner Veltliner is a grape that is grown almost exclusively in Austria. This Gruner is aged for 7 months in stainless steel tanks. It is an expensive and time-consuming process to have your vineyards certified organic and biodynamic, but a quick check of the internet shows the Biokult retailing from $10 to under $15. The alcohol content is 11.5%.

The color is a pale golden-yellow. The nose is clean, bright citrus, lime, grapefruit, lemon, along with some tropical fruit and a touch of spice. The Biokult has an engaging mouthfeel, with a mix of smooth and tart flavors. It starts with lemon, a hint of lime, Bosc pear, and unsweetened pineapple. The mid-palate shows tart grapefruit, lemon zest, and a slight creamy sensation. The acidity is well-balanced this is no “acid bomb”, the Biokult is a very sippable wine. The finish is fairly full and long-lasting.

The Biokult Grüner Veltliner 2015 is a tasty, well-balanced and in my opinion, classy wine. It has crowd-pleasing flavors, but it is reserved and sensible like a good Austrian wine should be. The Biokult drinks very well and will work as a holiday party wine and as for pairing, I am thinking Thai shrimp skewers or pasta with white sauce. A delicious, organic, biodynamic and Non-GMO wine for a very reasonable price.

Don’t tell anyone, but there is absolutely no correlation between the cost of wine and the quality of wine.
