The Story
The Tarongino Frizzante with Valencia Oranges is a Bubbly infused with 100% Valencia orange juice from an orchard owned by the Antelo Mencheta family. The Tarongino brand is a brand of Naranjas Ché Coop. A Coop is a group of small vineyard owners who band together to have the volume to produce and sell wine.
Frizzante has the lowest pressure of all the Sparkling wines. Champagne may have 6 atmospheres of pressure in the bottle, while Frizzante is 1, maybe 2 atmospheres of pressure.
Orange wine is a type of White wine that has extended (for typical White wine production) skin contact. This isn’t that, the Tarongino is more along the lines of a Mimosa, where fruit is added to Sparkling wine.
The grape used for the Sparkling wine is Muscat of Alexandria which is one of the oldest grape varietals and is mainly used for dessert wines.
The alcohol content is a low 7%, and the back label, because of the added citrus, has nutritional facts; this Bubbly is only 51 calories a glass.
The Tarongino Frizzante with Valencia Oranges Tasting Notes
The color is the color of an orange popsicle. The nose is shy, nothing jumps out, there are citrus notes, biscuit, with a faint floral edge. The Tarongino Frizzante with Valencia Oranges is an excellent summer cooler, it is nicely balanced.
This Frizzante tastes like orange hard candy, a slap of tropical fruit, and a late, intense hit of orange juice.
I imagine this wine is rated on the sweet side, with the Muscat grape and the citrus juice, but the sweetness is well balanced by the acidity. This is a wine that does not get cloyingly sweet.

- The Tarongino Frizzante with Valencia Oranges is the summer sipper you didn’t know you needed.
