The Story

90+ Cellars Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

90+ Cellars started with an interesting concept. They went to wineries that had a wine that had recently earned 90 points or more and asked if they had any wine leftover. If there was and they could reach a deal they had the wine bottled with the 90+ Cellars label. The name of the original winery is kept secret.

These wines were sold at a lower price, so wine drinkers could purchase a more expensive wine at a discount. They just didn’t know who the original winery was. This system is built on trust, the original winery needed the 90+ Cellars to hide their sourcing and wine drinkers needed to trust that these were actually good wine at a lower price.

Paso Robles is located at the midway point of the Central Coast AVA. The temperatures in this region can go over 100 degrees. It is important that the vineyards receive coastal influence. The cooling breezes and the fog rolling in in the morning and not burning off till noon protect the vines from the heat.

There are 11 sub-AVAs inside Paso Robles and the 90+ Cellars Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 does not specify a location. Though they do say the vineyards are in the southernmost part of Paso Robles.

90+ Cellars has some production notes for this Cabernet Sauvignon, but they are vague, I think because a close description could “out” the original winery
