The 90+ Cellars DOC Prosecco Lot 50 is a Sparkling wine I found selling for around $10. It is a Bubbly sourced from vineyards near the town of Salgareda in the Veneto region of Northern Italy.

The Story

90+ Cellars DOC Prosecco Lot 50

90+ Cellars started its business by purchasing excess wine from established, highly rated wineries. It is common for a winery to produce more than it can sell in any given vintage.

The winery that produced the 90+ Cellars DOC Prosecco Lot 50 seems to be Bosco Viticoltori. It looks like their primary markets are Italy and Europe.

90+ Cellars gets to bring the Prosecco to America and probably gets a favorable deal on the Bubbly.

Prosecco is a Sparkling wine produced from Glera grapes grown in the Veneto growing region of Northern Italy. It is fermented twice, but instead of using the traditional Method for second fermentation, they use the Charmat Method.

The Charmat Method is where the wine that is fermented the first time is transferred to an autoclave or a huge pressurized tank. Sugar and yeast are added to the tank, the proper pressure is set, and in several weeks to several months, you have Prosecco.

The DOC in the title is the Italian Wine Commission, they set the rules and regulations in the vineyard and in wine production. DOC is a top designation, but DOCG is higher since the commission guarantees that the rules and regulations are followed. At this price range I do not find much difference between DOC and DOCG Prosecco, they are both very good.

This is a Brut Bubbly or not sweet.

The alcohol content is 11%, and Prosecco is one of the lowest sugar and calorie wines.

The 90+ Cellars DOC Prosecco Lot 50 Tasting Notes

The color is a very pale gold. The nose is crisp, grapefruit, tart apple, lemon/lime, soft spice, a hint of brioche, and nectarine. The 90+ Cellars DOC Prosecco Lot 50 is a flavorful Sparkling wine with a bit of personality.

This Prosecco tastes like lemon, stone fruit, apple, not too tart grapefruit, and a little peach and pear, along with a little spice.

The acidity is well matched with the body of this Bubbly and will have you reaching for your glass before you know it.

The Summary

  • The 90+ Cellars DOC Prosecco Lot 50 is a welcome addition to the value Prosecco market.
  • Well-made with excellent flavor.
  • It might taste too good to use for Mimosas.
