The Story

Trader Joe's Reserve Napa Sauvignon Blanc 2025

The back label says ” vinted and bottled by” JBA Cellars, Rutherford, California. This is probably a shell company meant to disguise the producer of the wine. JBA Cellars has been used several times over the years for Trader Joe’s wine.

Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc is where Robert Mondavi, when he had trouble selling Sauvignon Blanc white wine, rebranded it as Fumé Blanc. It was a sales sensation, and they still keep a wine around with that name to this day.

JBA Cellars is located in the Rutherford AVA, but these grapes can be sourced from anywhere in Napa Valley.

The lot number for this Sauvignon Blanc is 257. I have heard Trader Joe’s may have different lots in different parts of the country to meet demand.

As a 2025 vintage is possibly fermented and aged in stainless steel vats, but in Napa they might get fancy with neutral oak barrels or amphora.

The alcohol content is 13.5%. Napa Valley is much warmer than in other Sauvignon Blanc growing areas such as New Zealand.

This Sauvignon Blanc tastes like tart apple, grapefruit, a hint of coconut milk, lemon, peach, and a little tropical fruit/ The flavors are balanced, nothing sticks out above the others.

The acidity is crisp and gived this wine decent length.
