Terlato has a huge portfolio of wines and spirits from all over the world. They are the company that brought Pinot Grigio with their highly influential Santa Margherita brand. Before that brand Pinot Grigio was largely unknown by the general public.
The Federalist wine labels at one time had. Ben Franklin or Abe Lincoln on the label, but now all feature an American Eagle.
The Federalist Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is sourced from vineyards in the Lodi AVA of north/central California. The grape selection is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Zinfandel, and 2% a mix of Petite Sirah, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from the Borden Ranch sub-AVA of Lodi.
There is one winery in the Borden Ranch AVA producing wine, but there seem to be several vineyards.
The Federalist Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 had the different blocks of grapes fermented and aged separately, and then blended. The wine was aged in oak barrels for 15 months, with 35% new barrels, with the rest used before. Oak barrels give off less influence with each use, so used barrels are needed to keep the wine from being overly oaky.
