The Salty Blonde Sauvignon Blanc is a non-vintage wine from the West Cape region of South Africa that I found on sale for $11.99though a check on the web showed the average price to be closer to $15.

Salty Blonde Sauvignon Blanc

While a non-vintage White wine may not sound too exciting this Sauvignon Blanc has a few tricks up its sleeve. This is an 80-calorie (theier website says 75),, certified vegan-friendly, 9% alcohol content, low sugar, gluten-free wine with a little fizz.

The Salty Blonde name comes from the color of the wine and the grapes were grown near the South Atlantic Ocean, three Oceans meet at the southern tip of Africa, The South Atlantic is on the west side.

The Salty Blonde Sauvignon Blanc is being marketed as a healther alternative. To achieve low calories, low sugar, and low alcohol something needs to removed from the wine. Sauvignon Blanc is not typically high in alcohol and is full flavored so a little bit of something may not be missed.

The Salty Blonde Sauvignon Blanc Tasting Notes

The color is a sunshine yellow or blonde. The nose is melon, a little green pepper, peach, pear, apple, grapefruit, and lightlu floral. The Salty Blonde Sauvignon Blanc is a little sprtizey on the tongue, with and interesting and not typical array of flavors.

The Salty Blonde Sauvignon Blanc tastes like lemon/lime soda but not sweet, light peach, a salty sensation, grapefruit, apple, stone fruit, and a finish of tropical fruit. The flavors are balanced and subtle for a Sauvignon Blanc.

The acidity is balanced by the body of the wine and allows the flavors to flow.

The Summary

  • The Salty Blonde Sauvignon Blanc is very drinkable for a “diet” wine.
  • The flavors mesh well and you do not get the sensation that this is a low cal, low alcohol wine.
  • Plus it is another flavor of Sauvignon Blanc (South African-style) which is worth exploring.
