The Story
The Prüm family has owned vineyards in the Mosel region (Germany) since the 100s. Sebastian Alois Prüm founded a winery in the 1800s. Raimund Prüm became director in 1971, and he handed the leadership over to his daughter Saskia Andrea Prüm in 2017.
The Mosel River begins in France and flows into Germany until it hits the Rhine River. This river valley is said to be the finest Riesling growing region in the world. The river valley has steep sides, and the soil is permeated with slate shards that contribute to a mineral taste to the wines.
The Raimund Prüm Essence Mosel Riesling 2023 is designated a Qualitätswein, which indicates it is a quality everyday wine that is 100% from one of Germany’s wine regions. Prüm vineyards do use organic fertilizers and are Vegan-friendly.
This Riesling is fermented in stainless steel vats using cultured yeasts and aged in stainless for 3 months before release. S A Prüm does use local Mosel growers to augment their grapes but to ensure the highest quality; they contract for the entire yield of the vineyard.
The alcohol is a low 10.5% and is rated a medium dry wine.
