Prophecy Sauvignon Blanc 2015

ProphecySauvignonBlanc__2015The Prophecy Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is sourced from vineyards in the Marlborough region on the northeast corner of New Zealand’s South Island. Prophecy Wines feature varietals from different locations, a Pinot Noir from California, a Pinot Grigio from VenetoItaly and a Red blend from both California and Washington. All value priced, within a few bucks of ten dollars and all featuring attractive labels from the artist Victo Ngai.

The color is a very pale wheat yellow with a slight green tint. The nose is green apple, melon, lemon/lime, honeysuckle and unsweetened pineapple. It is a little grassy, but mild compared to some New Zealand Sauv Blancs. This is a bright fruit forward Sauv Blanc with solid, but not overbearing acidity.  It tastes of grapefruit, lemonade, and ripe nectarine. The mid-palate shows lime, mild tangerine, and a little creamsicle (orange frozen ice with vanilla ice cream center). The acidity seems to be a little toned down, making this Sauvignon Blanc an excellent sipping wine, while still being useful as a food wine. The finish is full and long.

The Prophecy Sauvignon Blanc 2015 is a solid New Zealand SB in a very pretty package. The label is certainly eye-catching and the wine in the bottle is flavorful and interesting. A wonderful summer cooler with the body to drink year round.
