TJ’s $8 NZ Summer Sipper-Nikau Point Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Hey domain Davecheapwinefinder.com again. Another value price one went to Trader Joe's. There's nothing new there anymore. But I did find uh wine that we did review in 2019. Back then it was a $5.99 wine, now it's a $7.49 wine. It is the Nikal Point, Marlborough Savion Blanc 2024. Uh Nika N-I-K-A-U point is a beach on the North Island on the east side. Um Marlborough, where the grapes came from, is uh on the northeast uh corner of the South Island. And about two-thirds of all the wines out of New Zealand come from Marlborough. There's a bunch of bays and heights, you know, there's high ground wine, low ground wine, all sorts of stuff. Right near the ocean, a little bit farther away. So it gives you a little bit of um a chance to get different types of grapes in your wine. Um, what do we have here? This is a wine from um a small one. That's a smaller, independent, family-owned winery. Um they have about they have four or five different brands. Their wines are usually between like 10 and 30. Um, most of their wines come from their own vineyards. I don't know if this one came from their own vineyard at eight bucks and a Trader Joe's wine. It maybe it didn't. I mean it could, but it maybe it didn't. Maybe it was easier just to purchase wines. They think the um back label does reference multiple vineyards, which is um which is average for one of these um inexpensive New England, uh New Zealand wines, not New England, New Zealand. Typically, they're like a taste of Marlborough, they're taking from different sections of Marlborough and put together, so you get complexity at a very cheap price. I'm gonna take a sip. That's a nice Marlborough. New Zealand. Uh why? It's not spiky, it's not grassy, it's more juicy and bright than anything else. I I think they've kind of gotten away from those um, you know, really bold New Zealand Sabine Blancs from a few years back. This one is just juicy and tasty and nice to drink. It's 12% alcohol, which so you're not overdoing it. It just sips. This is sipping wine. This is um hot afternoon, a muggy evening, put a chill in the bottle. This will make you feel alright. Take another sip. Yeah, it's it's just it's not complex, but it tastes good. It's got a good the acidity, it is balanced, it's not there's no sharp acidity. Um the fruit is a lot of tropical fruit, but there's also peaches and pears and lemons and green apples and that type of thing. There's just a lot of really nice fruit in here. This is a um bernicopia. This is actually coming up for Thanksgiving, which is still a ways away. This is a wine that as long as you're having like a turkey, which is a uh a lighter, uh a lighter meat, you can pair this with turkey. It's got enough kind of it's kind of enough harvest flavors if you can harvest tropical fruit. Um that would fit in, depending on what your uh menu is, but on many kind of traditional ones, it might work really well. Taking another sip. Yeah, there's no it's not spiky. There's there's there's nothing wrong with this wine. Eight bucks per really nice wine. It's got kind of a viscous uh mouthfeel to it, which is kind of nice. It brings the fruit right along. Um you don't have to worry about this. This yeah, this is just a well-made Marlboro. I mean, I think you know, most people at this point have had enough have had a few different Marlboro Sauvignon Blancs. And this is a really nice one. If you like your white your wine bright, juicy, this is it. So, what do we got coming up? I've got a um California Cabernet Sauvignon and a really, really fancy Spanish Kava. A really fancy one, but not too expensive. So there you go. Uh that we'll talk never been a couple days with those wines. This is Domain Dave from cheapwinefighter.com. Adios, keep it cheap. The Naku and I think it's Naku Point, Marlboro, Sauvignon Blanc. It's pretty good. So adios see if in Trader Joe's, even though it's been around a while. Any via before, it's still worth picking up.
