Domain Dave again, cheapwinefutter.com. What we do is we talk about value price wines. Um And today we've got a trader Joe's wine. Um it's been around there since at least 2011. It's one of the more one of the most popular wine brands in the last 20 years. Or not quite 20, 15 years. Um Liberte Pasarobles Pinot Noir 2023. In the past, they had a Cabinet Sauvignon and a Pinot Noir, and it had a really nice label. It was like a Art Deco, Art Nouveau, uh woman from the maybe 1890s to 1910. It was a kind of a classy label. Now they change, at least for the Pinot Noir, Wildflowers on a white background, and it's uh kind of a die-cut label. It means they do a nice job on their labels. Um the back label says Familia Nuevo Winery, which it was a winery, but it's now owned by Ancient Peaks, which is a family-owned and operated winery out of uh um out of Pasarobles. Uh Liberte brand has uh website. And while it's a nice website, and while it doesn't necessarily have a lot of information about the wines, it does talk about them a little bit. And one thing it does say that the vineyards are all within 14 miles of the Pacific Ocean and San Luis Obispo County, and I believe there's 16 different AVAs in uh San Joe sub-AVAs in uh San Luis Obispo County. So while Paso Robles is known as a warm place, it's about halfway between um Los Angeles and San Francisco, but if if you get to the coast, you get some cool areas. You come back and you get warmer Cabernet Sauvignon or low areas. Take a sip of this one. So I'm not sure. 14 miles from the um from the ocean's a fairly specific or specific uh detail. And um so I don't know if it's from they just don't want because it's a ten dollar wine, they don't want to tell you it's a sub-AVA, a fancy sub-AVA, or or if it is from a couple of different um AVAs, doesn't matter. It's nine dollars, nine ninety-nine. Though I did notice on the web searching, so I wanted to see if it was actually a Trader Joe's exclusive, it seems to sell for around sixteen dollars at at least a couple of places that Trader Joe's does not serve us. So a $16 Pinot Noir and a $9.99 Pinot Noir are kind of two different beasts sometimes, but this might be one and the same. Or maybe the other one just is charging too much. No, it's not, it's a nice Pinot Noir. So, what do we got here? Um it's see-through. I mean, yeah, it's pretty. Spicy on the nose with uh cherries and cranberries and that kind of thing going on. Maybe some um and Pinot Noir has also got weird um weird weird um aromas. Like there's like pencil lead and that kind of stuff. You go, oh, what's that? And all things you probably think, oh, that tastes terrible, but it doesn't. Let me take a sip. It's smooth, but the spice is there. It's spicy. It's it's not um not one of those pinot noirs, and it's not price as one of those pinot noirs, where every time you uh you take a sip, it changes and something else. No, it's not, but what it is is tasty. I mean, what you taste is consistent, but it goes all the way through it, but it's there, and it's got enough um variety. I mean, there's the cherries, there's the fruit, there's the the the kind of exotic spices, there's the spunky flavors, the crushed autumn leaves on the nose. Good acidity, gives it decent length. Um, you don't want you you want acidity. You want you want a little bit of tannins, those are sweet tannins. You want to have tannins, you want acidity because that gives the wine some structure. Um the back label says something about oak spice, so this did see some oak uh conditioning of some sort. I don't know how, you know, I don't know if it was in barrels, I don't know. Part of it was in bales and part of it wasn't. I don't know any of that. Uh uh the Liberte website didn't really go into detail. And it had a $10 wine. You really don't need uh, well, you you could use it, but you don't expect it. Uh it it goes up in price because they're cup, they're giving you a really good wine at a really good price. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, which I have never done. But um who I've never gotten a horse, well, there we go. Um so let's go. What's this is we're coming up on November. This this is the end of October, and Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving if you're a turkey family. Turkey white meat, turkey meat is usually kind of you know, not bland, but it's not bold either. So you you want a wine if you're gonna have a wine with the meal that will not overpower but will complement. And this has cherries and that type of thing. I also like uh Washington State uh Rieslings too, because they have a lot of harvest flavors and that kind of goes in with the whole function. And plus, it has enough acidity because you know the ant that brings in the uh the sweet potatoes with the uh marshmallows and you know all the other luscious things you get at at what at the family feast. This will cut through that, and plus it won't overpower the turkey. So keep that in mind. The label, like I said, the wildflowers, looks like a nice bottle of wine to me. And guess what it is? So I'm gonna take another sip. Yeah, it's the Liberte Paso Robles Piena Noir 2023. The first time I came across it was in 2011. I think I liked it then, don't remember, but I think I did. And um, it's still rocking now. It's a solid uh one of those wines that just nothing wrong, but it's a nice, good tasting wine. It's easy to drink. So adios, keep it cheap. I'll be talking about it in a couple days. So I'll see you then. Adios. Bye bye.
