Hey welcome, domain dave again, cheapwine better.com. Like always, with another wine review, value price, like we always do. And so far, like in November, December, we try to go upscale, and so far it's starting to look like we might be able to go upscale for not so much money, like today. We've got the Kirkland signature Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2024. It's $13.99. It seems to be uh a wine that has kind of different people involved in it. Um it's got the winemaker Allison Crow from Platta Partners, who control or 20,000 acres in California of vines. And DC Flint, who is a master of wine, who has a wine company too, and one of the things he does is a negotiant. A negotiant buys either juice, finished wines, grapes, whatever, and make their own wine under their own label. Which looks that this is because they needed a winemaker, so this might have been juice that got pressed but didn't get put into the program of whatever winery it was. The thing about wine labels, it says it's Napa Valley, but it could be a you know a small, it could be from a single AVA, it could be anything. You can't you can't add more detail if there is no more detail. If it's from multiple AVAs, you you can't say it's not. But Napa Valley, it could be it could be something more particular, maybe not, but it could be. So what do we got here? So we got a a Napa wine, a Napa Cabernet Signal, and you know the wine industry is like down like 20% in the last 30 years, and uh a large distributorship went uh bankrupt. And wine, you know, certain areas, uh vineyards are uh are blowing up vines and planting uh walnuts and pecans, and it's kind of tough out there, but what it has done is it made a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon under $20. There's $13, 14, yeah, $13. Um $13 to $14, $13.99 thing. Um very obtainable and fairly plentiful. It used to be, you know, you'd go go Sonoma, go Lodi, go Washington uh estate for your value Cabernet Salmon. Yeah, not anymore. And you just might find uh a Napa vineyard that uh Napa winery that had some juice they had to move, and you're the better for it. I'm gonna take a sip. This is a wine that is smooth on the palate. Um not too many, there's there's some spice to it, but most of the spice tends to be rounded. There's really good chocolate on this. Um if you get a high-end um nappa cab that's gonna be French um French oak barrels. French oak barrels and American oak barrels are two different species. They're uh American oak barrel is a really wide grain, it gives out more um more flavor, and the French oat is tighter, it's a little bit more spicier, maybe classier because it's more because it's gentler and more more subdued. This one's got it's got chocolate and vanilla. I mean, I I don't know if it's all American, American at all, but it's got those flavors. They don't have any tasty notes on any of this stuff. You don't know how it is, but you would figure that if it's going for you know $13, $14, they're really not going after the uh the uh connoisseur crowd. They're going for the people who like wine, and maybe that's why it's so smooth and got pretty delicious flavors. Another sip, another sip. Yeah. This is an easy to drink wine. There's nothing nothing off about it. I mean it tastes great. Um if it it I would assume that it was made to be at this price point that we're not getting a $40 wine for $13, 14. I I I don't think that's what's going on here. I think they're making it to be accessible to as many people as possible while still having good grapes and having a well-made balanced wine. Which it is, the tannins are smooth, the acidity is balanced, it's in control. You know, what else can you ask for, really, with the wine? I mean, it does everything it's supposed to do, and plus it tastes really good, and it's a nice cabernet, and it's from Napa Valley, so you know you're getting good grapes because there really isn't a bad place in Napa Valley for grapes. You know, it used to be two or three years ago. If you got a value price one, it might have been most of the high-end wineries, first press, that's what they use, and they get rid of the second press, you know, or they they pull their well vines out every 25, 26 years, plant new ones, and they don't really use those for wines. And maybe a a the you know four or five-year-old vine that they don't always want to use might get sold off, that kind of thing. No, these are perfectly good grapes made by people who know what they're doing at a really good price. So the Kirkland signature Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon 2024. It works, it drinks really well. So audio, keep it cheap. Go to C go to Costco and grab a couple. Bye-bye. Keep it cheap.
