Hey, it's um Domain Dave, cheaperwinepowder.com. And um it seems that bad economic times makes for good wine drinking. Just saying. Um what we have here today is a Costco one I got for $12.99. It's the Andre Gauchot Saint Varennes Chardonnay 2024. $12.99 for a Burgundy Chardonnay. Andre Gauchat, which I'm probably butchering the name, is a negotiant that's been in business since it's a family-run negotiant, been in business for 1947. What a negotiant is, just to be brief about it, is that's somebody who has good ties with the the the vineyards and the wineries in your region, and they always have extra wine. I mean, um if you if you every year you sell this many of this bottle of wine, this many of that bottle, you're gonna the grapes aren't always sometimes you're gonna have too few grapes, sometimes you're gonna have too many. When you have too many, you want to sell them, and often the in the extra wine you made, and the a negotiant will buy it. And he will keep it hush hush where he got the wine from, and put his own label on it, and it's all about trust. And here's a negotiant that's been in business since 1947. That tells you everything you know about trust, and they're in Burgundy. That's the home of Chardonnay and the home of Pinot Noir. These are high-end, very good wines. Now, Saint Varin, if I'm pronouncing that right too, uh my French pronunciation is even worse than my English. Is next to Polypousset, which which is a uh wine region I used to giggle at uh when I was 12. But um it's kind of like they said it's a belt around uh the polypose region. And that's high-end. That's this the Saint Verand is not a bad region, but the other ones got the hundred dollar and you know the five hundred dollar wines. Saint Verand's more but more affordable. I'm gonna take a sip of this one. You see in wine magazine they're calling baby this and baby that, and that's kind of what this is. Because this negotiant is only buying wines from the best wineries. I mean, there's no reason for him. Since 1947, he knows everybody and everything. He knows who had the best years, he knows who's got a winemaker who's on his game. I'm not saying he, it could be they. But it's it's it's not a it's a pretty cool thing. Now, I went on the internet and tried to find out something about this, and once Costco's got a wine, the other, the other, there's they were, and I don't know, they still are, but they were the largest wine sellers in the United States. So if uh if other wine shops in your town and you got a Costco knows that Costco's got the wine, they're either discounting that wine to kind of compete or they're not buying it at all. So this is a bargain, $12.99 Burgundian Chardonnay, at a Trader Joe's price. Of course, it's Costco, but there you go. I'm gonna take another sip. This is 100% uh Chardonnay in stainless steel that undergoes monolactic fermentation, uh, which usually happens in California when they want to add wine oak barrels. Uh malactic changes the tart acid that's in every grape to a more rounded lactic lactose uh acid. So here you're gonna get maybe more fruit than citrus, but there's still gonna be citrus in here. And it's aged for year again is stainless steel. So this is gonna be a little bit tighter, not gonna have all that uh butter what California can have. I can take another sip. And this has a very firm mouthfeel. You know, you're not in California anymore when you're drinking this wine. Um you know, I drink a lot of West Coast Chardonnays because that's where the cheap wine finder can find good cheap wines. And this doesn't taste like that. You have that and you're going, hmm, I don't know about this. I mean, it's at first it kind of throws you off because it's it's tighter. Uh the mouth feels firmer. But then as you drink it, you go, okay, I get it. I get it, I get it 100%. This thing has got this thing is empexally made, it's got length, it's got good flavor. It's just not the flavors I'm used to finding in a um you know central coat Chardonnay. Take another sip. It's good. Andre Gachotte Saint Verand Chardonnay 2024, a negotiant Chardonnay from a very good Burgundian wine district that is next to a great Burgundian wine district, and that I mean in Burgundy, you can point to one side of a road and say those the vineyard and and that um and over there on this side of the road has two thousand dollar bottles, and over here it's a hundred and fifty dollar bottles, just a a you know, uh 20 yards putting them together. That's the way it is, because then up there, I mean, the yes, yes, there is a difference in the vineyard, but yes, their history also makes a difference in the price. So this is a good one. Um, if you want to get into something I always if you want to get into a Burgundian Chardonnay, you're interested in that. It's not always easy going to a wine shop and trying to figure out which one is the one to get. You can you can ask the people at the wine shop, that's for sure. Or you can read the wine enthusiam, white studio, wine spectator, all those things. And that that'll help you. But when you go to your wine shop, the ones in the magazines might not be there, the distributor might not be in your area, the importer might not be in your area. And maybe your taste isn't the same as the guy at the wine shop. Maybe he has some wines you like and some wines you don't. If you like this one, it's a Costco. It's easy to find, it's easy to get, and it's a good wine. So there you go, the Andre Goschat. Uh it's G-O-I-C-H-O-T. Saint Brain Chardonnay 2024, $12.99. It's a kind of a high end wine at a low end price. So adios keep it cheap. Um Dave from Cheaper Wine Fighter. I'll be talking to everybody. Adios, bye bye.

Don’t tell anyone, but there is absolutely no correlation between the cost of wine and the quality of wine.
