Costco’s $7 Wonder Wine-Kirkland Signature Bordeaux Blanc 2024

Hey welcome. It's Domain Dave from CheapWinefinder.com. Another wine. This is a uh Wonder Wine. It's from Costco. It's $6.99. James Suckling, the leading American wine critic, gave it 91 points. And this is the Kirkland signature Bordeaux Blanc 2024. What's Bordeaux Blanc, you may ask? Well, it's Savion Blanc blended with some Semillon. Typically, it's 10%, 15% Semillon. Here it's 6040. Semillon is a little bit creamier of a white one, a white wine grape. You know, because um Savion Blanc could be like you know, a big bowl with lots of flavors and spikiness. Bordeaux doesn't really do it that way. Uh it's this is cooler temperatures. It's 12.5 in the alcohol. You can usually tell how what the temperature was in the vineyard. If it if it's 14.5, it was a warm tip uh warm temperature vineyard. 12.5 it was cold. I'm gonna take a sip. Oh, because the the heat ripens the grapes quicker, and the the ripened grape has more sugar, and the more sugar turns into alcohol. I forgot to tell you that. Well, now you know. So that's a nice one. This is a very balanced, uh, nice, delicate, good flavors. When you sit there and contemplate your navel for a second on the first sip, there's some stuff going on for a $6.99 wine. Now you don't uh need to do that. You know, I was thinking at $6.99 for a Bordeaux Blanc. Um, that's cheap. This could be your go-to wine of the summer. I mean, it's that it's that good. I mean it's it's Savillon Blanc, which everybody knows. Semillon's not that well known a uh white grape in the uh U.S. I mean, it's if you if you drink Bordeaux white wines, you you know it, but um, you don't find too many um um single varietal uh of that. I mean that there I imagine you can, but it Savillon Blanc is far more popular, so why do it? I'm taking their sip. It kind of has really nice length and it's subtle, and it and the flavors are all delicious. I mean, it's this is a nice tasting wine, but it's not over the type. Everything is kind of like smooth and balanced. Um the acidity is in the pocket, it allows the flavors to roll on, but it doesn't bite it, you know. Sometimes, sometimes a a lower-priced white wine can be a bit of an acid bottom. No, I mean the city here is just doing its job, it's not doing anything other than doing its job. So you got a nice little flavor here. Uh, it's chateau. Let me tell you what the it's it's from an actual chateau uh chateau petit uh brillance brillan. Don't know it. It's from a um it's from the section of um uh Bordeaux that is known for doing uh white wines and value price wines. It's not from you know the the super famous ones, but it's $6.99 and it's good. Because you when you're talking about value price wines, you don't really want it to be from the fancy places because you're like, why is it inexpensive? Like a like a $10, no you trader Joe's doesn't, but a $10 Napa Valley wine, it's like okay, what's wrong with it? Because you can typically can sell them for $40 and up, and why is it for sale for $10? You go, I don't know about that. But you get a good one for a good $10 wine from Lodi or the Columbia Valley or something, or Central Coast, and that makes sense. You're getting a good bargain there. So this is a this is a great bargain. This is a wonder wine. This is a this is a wine, this could be the wine of the summer, in my opinion. It took another wine. It took another sip. It's it's this is a wine that tastes good when you sip it, but you don't have to concentrate on it. I mean, it's um you're outside, you're on the balcony, a neighbors come over, you pop the top on this, and it has a cork in it, it's Kirkland. Um, and you're sipping it and it tastes good, and you're going, yeah, this is nice, but you get into a good conversation, and you don't have to pay more attention to it after that. You can just allow it to be a good wine you're sipping while you're enjoying yourself. This just adds. This is this this is a wine that just adds to the moment. It isn't the moment itself. You know, sometimes you get these expensive ones, you know, you pull out a hundred-dollar bottle and a friend comes over, and oh, then the bottle's the whole reason you're there. This is a wine, I think it might be even better, because it just improves your moment. You're having you're with good friends and you're just making it better. So it tastes great. It tastes like a Savion Blanc. The uh the Semyon does mellow things out a bit. There's just nothing wrong with it. If you like Savion Blanc, if you like a little you like a nice creamier mellower wine, this is a good choice. You just like to put a chill on a bottle and drink a wine that's 12.5 in the alcohol, which is gonna be not as heavy as a big old red wine, or sometimes you get these, you know, easing up in the alcohol is not the worst thing uh when you have to get up in the morning. So there you go. The Kirkland Signature Bordeaux Blanc 2024. Bordeaux Blanc means Sauvignon Blanc Semion. If you don't know, Semillon's a good way to get into it for $6.99.
