Costco $10 Must Buy-Method California Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Well hey there domain day of cheapwinefinder.com doing what we always do. I wrote up um a value priced wine review on the cheapwinefinder.com website. Um we've been hitting Costco lately because uh Aldi and Trader Joe's have been kind of stagnant, and there's reasons why we don't do other wines, but we'll get into that later. And what we have today is the Method California Cabinet Somnion 2023. Method is a kind of a um collaboration between Navigator wines. They used to be precept wines, they've got a bunch of labels. Uh, Navigator used to make a lot of wines for Trader Joe's, might still be doing that, but there are no new wines at Trader Joe's, and a master somalay named Ian Cobble, uh, C-A-U-B-L-E, I think how it's called. And they made a um Method Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, and this one, the California Cabernet Sauvignon 2023. The method got 95 points by a bunch of different people, like James Suckling, the leading wine reviewer. But the California, which at um Casco's $9.99, it's anywhere from $1420 elsewhere. And it was um it got 93 points by James Suckling, not that far off of the Napa Valley, and it was wine enthusiasts value price of the year for 2025. So for a 10 buck wine, it's pretty good. I'm gonna take a sip. A Cabernet Sauvignon, this good for $9.99 is amazing. It's 85% um Cabernet Sauvignon. Uh it needs to be 85% in Napa to be called a cab. I think it's only 75% elsewhere. Then it's like 9% uh Malbac and 6% Petit Verdeaux, which are two Bordeaux grapes. So this this could, if you wanted to be called a Bordeaux blend, but I've got a feeling that Gabernet Sauignon sells more bottles, so why bother with Bordeaux? It's got a it's got a heavy bottle. This is one of those bottles that they put wine in that you're gonna put away for 20 years. You wouldn't put this wine away for 20 years, six, seven maybe, I think. But it's got it's got that heavy bottle. I mean, they don't need to do that, but they want you to know that this is a premium wine that, like I said, Casco's selling for $9.99. The oak program is 60% uh new oak barrels and 40% neutral barrels, and it's like a math project. The neutral barrels don't give any oak influence, you don't get all the spices and those things you get in oak, but you get the um an oak barrel is watertight, but it's not completely airtight, so it changes what the wine is uh from what a um stainless steel vat would do. And the 60% new oak, it's pretty decent. I mean, um that's giving you some pretty nice tannins, it's gonna give you some really nice spice and flavoring. 60% new oak. I mean, you don't want to go too much because then it's then you're gonna have to put it away for five years where you can drink it because it's got too much tannins. No, this one's just fine. Don't know which vineyards they use, but um Navigator Precept has access to a bunch of different uh vineyards. So they with the 95 and the 93 points for the two wines they have in this brand, obviously they picked well. And when you sip it, it's a really good wine. I mean, it's smooth, it's got um complexity, it's got length, it's got all the things you want. And did I tell you it was $9.99? Yeah. Yeah, it's just even when it's not really doing anything, it's got some nice little things going on. It has this kind of like dusty tannins going on and uh a little bit of pull from the um not tannins, acidity, and a little bit of pull from the uh from the tannins, which are all things you really want. I mean, usually tannins, like you don't want it in the wine too much because they can give you dry mouth. No, this is all here and it's alright. So there you go. I this is I mean, this is a like I said, wine enthusiast, best value wine of last year, and nothing's changed from last year to this year. It's still good, and it's only cheaper than it was last year. So if you gotta you can go to Costco, pick it up. There's my Costco head at plenty, and if you don't have anybody, uh you don't know anybody, or you know someone who has a Costco membership, toss them a 20 and tell them to pick you up a couple. Because the Method California Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is a bargain, it's a must-buy. I mean, it's one of those wines that um there's no reason if you like big if you like red wines, it's not even a big red wine, it's 14.1 in the uh alcohol, but in this day and age of warm weather, it's that's what you're gonna get. Now, this is balanced and tasty, and and it's good in all the ways a red Cabernet Sauvignon should be. So there it is, adios, keep it cheap, domain day. We found ourselves a good one today, so I'll be talking to everybody uh a little bit later. Keep it cheap, bye bye.
