Welcome again. Domain Dave, cheap winefighter.com. Got a um Trader Joe's upscale wine, one of those uh platinum reserve wines. This is the Trader Joe's Platinum Reserve Pasel Robles uh GSM Plus uh 2024. Uh Platinum Reserve is like second to Diamond Reserve, and that means that this is a $14.99 wine, and some places $19.99 wine, which might mean that it is the equivalent to maybe like a $30 wine elsewhere. There is, I don't think there's any set things, but I think that's what they shoot for. I mean, um, you know, a lot of their wines, it's a $10 wine. Well, it's supposed to be a $10 wine, you know, that and it's good for a $10 wine, but then there's other wines that they get that are bargains, and that's kind of the deal with them. This wine is um is from a winery. Uh, it's on the back, it says uh barrel 27's out of Paso Robles. It is a winery, it's part of McMyre's Price, which is a uh Paso Robles winery. Um, they're well respected, they have wines anywhere from $20 up to over $100. And they're legit, they make good wines, and this isn't uh any shell company or they're hiding this and they're hiding that. Now, I don't know where the if they're using their own vineyards or if they bought purchased scrapes or whatever that was. But um it's from an actual winery who kind of put when their label names on there, they're not hiding anything, which is kind of rare for these Trader Joe's reserve wines. They usually the people who make them usually don't want anybody to know. But times are weird right now, and uh they they might figure that if you like it, you'll go out and look for their other wines. They're gonna take a sip. It's a tasty little uh blend. Uh a GSM Plus is uh Grenache, I think it was like 58% Grenache and about, and I'm I'm going off memory. The Serratos are like 20, the Morvedra was you know, maybe maybe 16. And the plus is um sinso. I think it was about 10% sinso. And while a GSM has those three grapes, uh Sinso is a legitimate grape from the Rhone Valley. Um Paso Robles in the Central Coast has a group of winemakers called Rhone Rangers who um promote and uh improve the grapes and um make Rhone Valley style wines from France, um, which is a GSM blend. It's like the second most famous blend in the world to the uh to the Bordeaux um Merlot, Cabinet Sauvignon, and Cabinet Franc and France wines. And this is a pretty legitimate wine. This is a good tasting wine. There's a lot of flavor here. Um, it's got a bit of tannins, I mean a little bit of pull, but that's good. That just gives structure. That means that you know, I when I just said about it, you know, this might be, you know, the Trader Joe says it will have been to a $30 wine. It might be. I mean, because the tannins give it a little pull. Under $20 wines, a lot of times, not always, but a lot of times they kind of reduce the tannins as well as much as possible, even though for a good wine that they should have tannins. But, you know, people kind of sometimes don't like it as much. But if you like good wine, you kind of get used to it. Yeah, take another one, took a sip. Um, I think it's got oak. I don't there's no there is no um notes, production notes or anything on it. And I I kind of taste some vanilla in there and um maybe some oak spice going on. Not heavy oak, but there is a uh there seems to be some in there. That's what I'm tasting anyway. Um GSM blends don't always need oak. Uh in France. Though sometimes there will be, sometimes there won't be. But this one I think has a little bit of something, something in there. Because the flavor's really good. Um and it's got it's got a little bit of that bright sparkle to it. Not that oak gives you bright sparkle, but uh at 2024, yeah, it's got just enough to get a bit of age. I like it. I keep on going back for a taste. So there you go. I mean, this is a very nice wine. It tastes great, it's got good structure. It um what else can I say about it? I mean, it's just at $14.99, it's a bargain. I mean, I it might be worth a wine more than twice, and that's not a hyperbole anymore. Uh, there was a time when that was probably silly because uh they weren't, you know, they weren't wines that cost $30 were selling for $30. But right now they're trying to get rid of some wines. There's too much wine out there. Uh, a lot of people didn't really plan for the downturn, and you can't keep these wines around because you start stacking up vintages, and that just makes things worse. And you can't sell the next vintage if you still got that uh the one vintage before sitting around. So that Trader Joe's gets that wine. Yeah, that makes sense. So this might be um from the flavors. I'm thinking a wine that uh is a bargain. I mean, a wine that should cost more, but doesn't. And that's what I'm all about. That's what Chief Winefinder is. Try to find the try to find the ones that punch above their uh weight class. So yeah, this is a good wine. This is a platinum uh Trader Joe's Platinum Reserve Passerobles GSM Plus. That um that's and so kind of give it a little boost. It does there's a reason why that there's 10% in there, and it tastes really good. Uh that's so there you go. I've got a another uh wine that Trader Joe's uh Pinot Pinot Noir, the Trader Joe's, and again from another actual winery that has been doing for at least 15 years. So I got that one coming up next. So adios, keep it cheap, and I'll be talking to everybody later. Adios, bye bye.
