Natura Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

The Natura  Cabernet Sauvignon 2011JWzx4ZFOjM8IeICx7vII40477_G is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 6% Syrah grown in certified organic vineyards in Chile’s Valle Central. Natura is Emiliana Organic Vineyards organic line of wines, they also offer sustainably farmed wines and biodynamic wines which take organic growing methods to a whole  new level. 20% of this Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in French oak for 6 months, the rest was aged in stainless steel vats. The alcohol content is 13.5%

The color is Dorothy’s ruby slippers red with blue black highlights. The nose is blackberry with a little mushroom, a hint of smoke, cinnamon stick and soap. It tastes of dark berries, extracted blackberry and sweeter blueberry, Nestle’s Quick powder and ripe black plums. The mid palate offers some tart cranberry, not sweet black Twizzlers and a soft touch of vanilla. The tannins are soft and dusty and there is a solid tight line of acidity running through the body of the wine. The finish is rounded fresh fruit flavors and it lingers for a decent amount of time.

Organic grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon and ten bucks go together very nicely. This is a smooth, fruit forward Cabernet Sauvignon, not tons of complexity and depth, but the dusty tannins and the vanilla add an appealing counterpoint to the lush, fresh fruit. A versatile wine that would pair well with beef and pork dishes and it drinks well on its own.
