The Monsigny Brut Champagne Aldi 2022 is a $24.99 Aldi exclusive produced for them by Champagne Philzot et Fils. The price in past years has been $19.99, but Champagne prices are up this year. They have been making this Bubbly for Aldi in the UK since 2012 and in the US since 2019.

Monsigny Brut Champagne Aldi 2022

The grapes in the blend are 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Pinot Meunier, and 10% Chardonnay sourced from contracted growers, and their Champagne House is located in Reuil near the Marne River.

The Monsigny Brut Champagne Aldi 2022 won International awards and the 2019 version was my favorite wine of the year. Aldi Europe offers five different bargain-priced Champagne Sparkling wines, and we in the US have to make do with what we get. But that is not a major problem since this is an excellent Bubbly at a bargain price.

To be a Champagne the grapes have to be grown in the Champagne region and the Bubbly is also produced in Champagne. All Champagne must be made with the Traditional Method, where the second fermentation occurs in each bottle. The 2nd fermentation must last a minimum of one and a half years. The longer the second fermentation the creamier the Bubbly gets and usually the Champagne is far more expensive.

The Monsigny Brut Champagne Aldi 2022 is real Champagne don’t let the fact that it sold at Aldi put you off. Aldi Europe is THE home of value-priced wine, Aldi America has some excellent wines but does not have the same reputation as its European counterpart. The alcohol content is 12.5%.

The Monsigny Brut Champagne Aldi 2022 Tasting Notes

The color is gold with fine bubbles. The nose is right citrus, lemon, and grapefruit, along with cherry, soft spice, and a hint of vanilla. The Monsigny Brut Champagne Aldi 2022 is a pretty mix of tart and fruit flavors, everything is subtle and very tasty.

This Champagne tastes like soft tart cherry, grapefruit, ripe black cherry, a little spice, and a touch of cream. The mid-palate brings that salty/nutty on-lees thing, nectarine, lemon, and plum. The fruit flavors are not the same as a still wine, it offers suggestions of flavor rather than fully fleshed-out fruit flavors, and it is an attractive sensation.

The acidity is well-balanced and is almost part of the flavor profile.

The Summary

  • The Monsigny Brut Champagne Aldi 2022 is a home run, a real deal Champagne at $15 less than the other guys, even with the 5-buck price increase it is still a major bargain.
  • One of the simple joys of life is finding an excellent bargain wine and finding an excellent bargain Champagne makes for a great day.
