Joel Gott California Sauvignon Blanc 2021

The Joel Gott California Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is #5 on Wine Spectators’ list of top ten value wines for 2022 and also received 91 points. Joel Gott makes these wines, and Joel Gott Wines is partnered with Trinchero Family Estates. Since they are not tied to a set of particular vineyards Trinchero gives them access to a wide selection of grapes.

The grapes were chosen from regions that would bring different characteristics to the wine, there is a mix of coastal grapes, cool weather grapes, and warm weather grapes, along with a wide variety of soil conditions.

This is a wine that should be found at Target, supermarkets, and wine shops virtually everywhere and according to the internet will cost between $10 and $13.

The grapes for the Joel Gott California Sauvignon Blanc 2021 were all fermented separately and then blended for the final mix. The 2021 growing season was long and relatively uneventful which was welcome after several years of fires.

Even though this is a single-varietal wine, it is still a blend. All the different grapes from the five AVAs had to be melded together into a cohesive wine. Working the grapes in the vineyards is agriculture. Fermenting grape juice into wine is science. Blending the various batches into an enjoyable wine is an art. The alcohol content is 13.9%.
