The 2016 vintage of this wine won an award for one of the best Provence Rosé wines in the world. Ten bucks and one of the world’s best, yeah, that would sell out quickly.

The Exquisite Collection Cotes de Provence Rosé 2021-Aldi wines in recent years have not hit those heights but it won the World’s Beverage Innovation Award 2021 in the Best Alcohol Drink category.

Cotes de Provence AOC is the largest of the 9 AOCs (growing regions) in Provence. Provence wines are usually blends and while there are several dozen grapes to choose from most blends include Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Counoise. The blends can vary greatly by the producer.

Affordable Provence Rosé is rarely aged in oak barrels, stainless steel vats, and cement vats or common. While the Exquisite Collection Cotes de Provence Rosé 2021-Aldi does not have the acclaim of the 2016 vintage it is a top-quality $9.99 imported wine that is a solid example of its region. The alcohol content is 12%.

The color is pink with a little orange. The nose is crisp with spices, tart apple, grapefruit, peach, pear, melon, and spring flowers. The Exquisite Collection Cotes de Provence Rosé 2021-Aldi is a balanced, subtle but flavorful Rosé with good length.

This Rosé tastes like soft tart cherry, grapefruit, a slap of spice, some peach, and melon. The mid-palate adds a creamy texture (stirred lees?), nectarine, and Anjou pear. This is a dry wine, with excellent acidity. It sets your taste buds up for the next sip.
