The Story
The Boisset Collection is Jean-Charles Boisset’s wine company, which features wine and spirits from both France and California. The evoluna brand seems to be a discontinued line of wines. The brand is no longer supported on the JCB website. The only photo of the wine available has a banner saying get it while you can.
The evoluna Mendocino Chardonnay is sourced from certified organic vineyards and is sustainably farmed. The evoluna name references the phases of the moon. Biodynamic wines are farmed and produced according to the phases of the moon, but there is no mention that this is a biodynamic wine.
Mendocino is north of Sonoma and northwest of Napa. Boisset has vineyards in Mendocino for their DeLoach brand as well as others. It is a sub-AVA inside the greater North Coast AVA.
What production and tasting notes were offered for the evoluna Mendocino Chardonnay are now gone. The back label mentions mango and honeysuckle as well as toasted brioche, which strongly suggests oak barrel aging.
