The Story

There are 18 wineries in Provence designated as Cru Classé, a title given to the winery. The title can encompass the entire estate but mainly honors the winery or Domaine for producing superior wines. The designation was issued in 1955, and many feel it needs to be updated, but Domaine de la Croix’s status is not in question.

The Domaine de la Croix Irresistible Rosé 2023 is a blend of 40% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah, 10% Rolle (also known as Vermentino), 5% Tibouren (a local grape).

The grapes are sustainably farmed. This Rosé was produced from destemmed grapes and fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel vats.

The alcohol content is 13.5%.

One side note is when I did the age and location certification to enter the Domaine de la Croix website, there was no option to select the USA, and most of the website was in French, Maybe Costco is the main importer.

The Domaine de la Croix Irresistible Rosé 2023 Tasting Notes

The color is on the amber side of pink. The nose is pretty, a mix of fruit, citrus, and spice, with a floral edge. The Domaine de la Croix Irresistible Rosé 2023 is a light, balanced, and very tasty Rosé.

This Rosé tastes like grapefruit, tart apple, lime, dried pineapple, coconut milk, both soft and sharp acid, and a creamy texture on the mid-palate.

As a Rosé with little skin contact, there are no tannins, and the acidity is well-controlled. The flavors have plenty of room to unfold.

The Summary

  • The Domaine de la Croix Irresistible Rosé 2023 is a $9.99 Costco bargain.
  • Most value-priced Provence Rosé wines are pretty good, with consistent quality.
  • The Rosé is a step above but at a price less than the competition.
