The Claire Patelin Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a $6.99 Trader Joe’s import exclusive produced from grapes grown in the Cote De Gascogne in southwest France. It was made for Trader Joe’s by LGI Wines a custom wine brand producer from France.

Claire Patelin Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Gascony is south of Bordeaux in the foothills of the Pyrenean mountains to the East and the Atlantic Ocean to the West. This is an IGP wine which is a designation just below AOC wines. It means this wine is representative of the region but produced under less stringent regulations.

Gascony is known best for White wines and fortified wines.

The Claire Patelin Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a young wine not meant to be aged, it should be consumed within a year or two of release. They do not offer production notes but are typically made using stainless steel vats. These wines are all about the vineyard with minimal evasive production.

We reviewed the 2017 vintage of the Claire Patelin and we liked the wine at that time. The alcohol content is a mild 11%.

The Claire Patelin Sauvignon Blanc 2023 Tasting Notes

The color is pale gold. This is one of those Sauvignon Blanc wines that you can smell from a foot and a half away, this wine is not shy. There are scents of apple, pineapple, lemon, lime, peach, pear, spice, and tropical fruit. The Claire Patelin Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is medium-bodied and full of flavor.

This Sauvignon Blanc tastes like tart apple, grapefruit, and a hint of cream (battonage?), peach, and pear. The mid-palate lime, guava, and nectarine.
