About a year ago, in September 2025, Aldi released a Specially Selected Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2024 with a different label; it was $12.99 (a dollar more and showed a different winery of record. That wine was also produced by an entity of Pecept Wines.
High-end Willamette Pinot Noir will almost always show a particular sub-AVA and often name the vineyard. Those wines start at $40 and go up.
This is possibly a negociant wine, though Precept does have vineyard holdings in the Willamette Valley. They also have extensive knowledge of producing Pinot Noir wine.
$11.99 is a bargain price for Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, which is said to rival the wines of Burgundy in France.
This wine looks to be a different bottling than last year’s Specially Selected Pinot Noir. It has an extra year of aging at a lower price tag.
The alcohol content is 13.9%.
The Aldi Specially Selected Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2024 Tasting Notes
The color is a see-through raspberry jelly red. The nose is cherry, herbs, pomegranate, spice, a floral note, and strawberry. The Aldi Specially Selected Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2024 is medium-bodied with rich flavors.
This Pinot Noir tastes like black cherry, hard-edged spice, a little vanilla, a hint of blueberry, and tart cranberry.
The tannins are soft, and the acidity does a nice job of letting the flavors flow.
