The 3 Rein Never Tame Red Blend 2020 is a $7.99 Aldi exclusive. It was produced for Aldi by Precept Wines the largest privately owned wine company in the Northwest and it uses grapes farmed in the Columbia Valley AVA of Washington. That is the extent of what we know about this wine.
The back label mentions cherries and blackberries, covering almost every Red grape in the Columbia Valley. There is also a mention of subtle oak, which means it had some sort of oak influence, but not how the oak got into the wine. At this price range, it could be oak barrels, oak staves, oak chops, or oak powder.
The 3 Rein Never Tame Red Blend 2020 has a very good chance of being an enjoyable wine since it is a brand-mate of 3 Rein Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 which was a solid bargain.
Columbia Valley Red Blends have an excellent track record as bang-for-the-buck wines. There are many excellent vineyards in the Columbia Valley and the general style of their Red wines is ripe but balanced. The alcohol content is a reasonable 13.2%.
The 3 Rein Never Tame Red Blend 2020 Tasting Notes
The color is dark black cherry red. The nose is blackberry, black cherry, soft spice, dark chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. The 3 Rein Never Tame Red Blend 2020 is smooth and long with a slightly rough edge.
This Red Blend tastes like ripe blackberry, chocolate powder, a slap of spice, and plum. The mid-palate brings blueberry, rough-edged spice, and a little vanilla, followed by jammy raspberry.
The tannins are sweet and stay out of the way and the acidity gets the job done.
The Summary
- The 3 Rein Never Tame Red Blend 2020 is a good tasting well-priced Red wine.
