The Story

In 1835, George Yount planted grapes here, making Yountville the first wine region in Napa. Yountville is part of the Napa Bench land, including Oakville and Rutherford. The Bench may be the premier growing area in all of Napa Valley.

Cabernet Sauvignon wines can be found for a low of $25 (though rare) to hundreds of dollars and the who’s who of Napa have holdings here.

The Trader Joe’s Platinum Reserve Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is “vinted and bottled by” VinoEnology LLC., a website for all things wine. It offers a job board, equipment for sale, grapes and bulk wine, and virtually anything else you can think of.

Petar Kirilov, the website owner, also owns Kukeri Wines, which produces high-end small-batch wines from Napa and North Coast grapes.

We reviewed the 2016 vintage of this wine several years ago, here is a link to that review.

Trader Joe’s gave us a little information on the oak aging program for the 2016, we got little information for he 2023 vintage.

The alcohol content is 14.5%.

This cabernet Sauvignon tastes like blackberry, black licorice, black pepper, ripe plum, sweet spice, raspberry, bitter dark chocolate, orange zest, and cranberry.

The tannins offer structure but do not bite, and the acidity gives this Cabernet excellent length.
