Trader Joe’s French Blanc de Blanc and Brut Rosé both Trader Joe’s exclusive $6.99 import Sparkling wines. The Fearless Flyer indicates that these are proprietary blends from the South of France near the Mediterranean Sea.
These French Sparkling wines probably do not include Chardonnay or Pinot Noir the mainstays of Champagne Sparkling wines. It is unclear whether these wines got their bubbles with the Traditional Method (like in Champagne) or the Charmat Method (like in Prosecco).
This is unscientific, but when Bubbly is made in the Traditional Method that fact is plastered all over the label, while Charmat wines tend not to broadcast the information. With bargain wines and Trader Joe’s French Blanc de Blanc and Brut Rosé falling into that category either method is excellent.
Blanc de Blanc means White wine from White grapes and Brut Rosé shows a dry wine made with at least one red grape. France is the home to Sparkling wines so you would figure their standards are fairly high.
