Porto 6 Vinho Tinto 2021

Lisboa is a region along the northern Atlantic coast near Lisbon. It is a large wine region with several sub-regions inside.

Porto 6 Vinho Tinto 2021 is produced by Vidigal Wines a family-owned winery. Their motto is “the best possible wine at the lowest possible price.”

This Red blend sells at Trader Joe’s for $5.99. The grapes in the blend are 50% Aragones (known as Tempranillo), 40% Castelao (a local grape), and 10% Touriga National (similar to Cabernet Sauvignon).

Portuguese wines usually feature local grapes and even when they use more well-known grapes they use the Portuguese name.

This Red blend was fermented and aged in temperature-controlled Stainless Steel vats. And since this wine is from Portugal the home of the cork tree, it has a real cork. The alcohol content is 13.5%.

The Porto 6 Vinho Tinto 2021 Tasting Notes

The color is black cherry red. The nose is ripe red berries, it is a little smokey, a slap of herbs, a meaty aroma, and plum. The Porto 6 Vinho Tinto 2021 is a dry wine, with a smooth mouthfeel and subtle flavor.

This Red blend tastes like blackberry, cherry cough drops, a little tea, a tough of soft herbs, a splash of cherry, and a late hit of tart cranberry.

This wine has a slight pull from the tannins but Portuguese wines almost always show their tannins.
