The name of the producing winery was obscured in the past, but today this wine has its own website, and Ancient Peaks from Paso Robles is behind this Pinot Noir. In addition to this San Luis Obispo County Pinot Noir, Liberté also has a Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon available. This could mean the Liberté brand will not be Trader Joe’s exclusive for long.

San Luis Obispo County AVA includes Paso Robles and 14 other AVAs, there is also a San Luis Obispo Coast AVA, but this wine could have been sourced from vineyards anywhere within the county boundaries. Liberté says the vineyards used were within 14 miles of the Pacific Ocean.

This growing region is halfway between Los Angeles and San Fransico and offers both warmer and cooler climate areas, which allow for both outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon (warmer) and Pinot Noir (cooler)/

The Liberte San Luis Obispo Pinot Noir 2021 was created to be an enjoyable, but affordable wine. This wine region is known for not following and making wine the way they see fit. This Pinot Noir should show a nod to tradition while being a modern wine. The alcohol content is 14.2%.

There was a time when a Pinot Noir with 14.2% alcohol was unheard of, but with the new warmer temperatures it is a fact of life, and winemakers have adapted well to the conditions.
