The Gruet Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine is a Pinot Noir-based Champagne-style non-vintage Sparkling wine from Sante Fe, New Mexico.
This is a Sparkling wine that should be found selling for around $15, I found it on sale for $13.99 and Brut means dry or not sweet.
Gilbert Gruet had a Champagne House in Champagne France (founded in 1952) and started an outpost of his winery in New Mexico in 1984.
There had been a group of French winemakers who had been extolling the virtues of the area for years.
Gruet’s popularity outgrew their own New Mexico vineyard capacity and have in recent years added grapes from Washington and Northern California.
The Gruet Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine is 100% Pinot Noir and is sourced solely from Gruets New Mexico vineyards.
The production notes tell that this Bubbly is 79% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay, and 1% Merlot, but the back label says this is 100% Pinot Noir.
I would trust the back label since needs to be up-to-date for wine labeling regulations.
This is a Bubbly produced in the Traditional Method (same as Champagne) and the second fermentation lasts a minimum of 18 months which is the same age requirement as in Champagne. The alcohol content is 12%.
The Gruet Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine Tasting Notes
The color is pink with a touch of salmon and the bubbles are plentiful. The nose is dried strawberry, spice, grapefruit, a little stone fruit, and dried pineapple. The Gruet Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine is crisp, juicy, and tart, with excellent length.
This Brut Rosé tastes like cherry, a shock of sharp spice, Anjou pear, pineapple, a hint of minerality, and cinnamon. The mid-palate adds more exotic spice, strawberry, and tart lemon/lime.
The acidity is well controlled and gives this Bubbly decent length.
The Summary
- The Gruet Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine is an excellent Champagne-style Bubbly at an excellent price.
- This is a satisfying Sparkling wine that can be an everyday wine, Bubbly every day is a luxury!
