A Cremant wine is a French Sparkling WIne made in the Traditional or Champagne style, but not produced in the Champagne region. This wines are typically of excellent quaity, but do not command Champagne prices making them some of the best bargains in France.

The ALsace growing area is north and west of Champagne on the French border with Germany. This land has switched between being part of France or Germany for centuries and have been part of France sine World War One. The wines show a mix of styles and the grapes farmed are both German and French.

Cremant d”ALsace has been an AOC since 1976. There are 500 Sparkling Wine producers and Pinot Blanc is the main grape for White Sparkling wine with Reisling , Pinot Gris among others to be used in the blend. A Cremant d”Alsace can also be a single varieatl Bubbly.

The Aldi Specially Selected Cremant d’Alsace Brut does not have production notes, the second fermentation must last at least 9 months, in Champagne the minimum is 18 months, but the rules and regulations are generally the same as Champagne.

Every year around the Holidays Aldi offers a true Champagne Bubbly at a price of $19.99, so this $14.99 Alsace Bubbly is at the higher-end of AlLdi wine. The alcohol content is 12%. Brut indicates this is a dry Bubbly or not sweet.

The Aldi Specially Selected Cremant d’Alsace Brut Tasting Notes

The color is a pale silver. The nose reminds me of Champagne, it is subdued with a delicate mix of citrus and fluit aromas, with alittle spice and floral edge. The Aldi Specially Selected Cremant d’Alsace Brut lean, but flavorful with excellent length.

This French Bubbly tastes like peach, exotic spice, Green apple, grapefruit, and Anju pear. The mid-palate shows a nutty/salty sensation, lemon curd, ripe nectarine, and orange blosum honey.

This is a very balanced and well-made Bubbly, the acidity is “in the pocket” giving the delicate flavors room to roll out.

The Summary

  • The Aldi Specially Selected Cremant d’Alsace Brut is New Years Eve and Wedding party toast good.
  • This Bubbly has excellent balance and delicious flavor.
  • Aldi is becoming the place to go for value-priced but excellent Bubbly!
