A quick check of their brand’s page shows several wines I consider bargains sold at Trader Joe’s.
The Rose & Finch California Red Wine 2021 is priced exceedingly low, the Fearless Flyer mentions elegant tannins, balanced oak, and mocha and vanilla flavors which come from some sort of oak aging. $3.49 wines are rarely elegant or have budgets that will allow for some manner of oak influence.
This is also a 2021 vintage (this is being written in December of 2023) and while that isn’t particularly old it is for a wine at this price, time is money and there is no budget for extra time. Trader Joe’s says this Red is available for a limited time, so this deal is over when the wine sells out.
2 Buck Chuck is produced to sell for $2.99 and even $3.99 in some markets, with a little luck the Rose & Finch California Red Wine 2021 was made to sell for more, but for some reason is selling at close-out prices. The alcohol content is 13%.
The Rose & Finch California Red Wine 2021 Tasting Notes
The color is a dark barely see-through black cherry red. The nose does show oak aging, there is oak spice, vanilla, a dark chocolate, along with cherry, spice, plum, and a little smoke, pretty solid for a $3.49 wine. The Rose & Finch California Red Wine 2021 is on the lighter side, but the flavors are ripe and tasty.
This Red Blend tastes like cherry, a light slap of spice, licorice, juicy plum, cranberry, a little cedar, and blood orange. There isn’t a mid-palate what is upfront goes all the way through the wine. The tannins are supple and the acidity is well-balanced. A solid effort for a $3.49 wine.
