The Hahn Appellation Series Arroyo Seco Pinot Noir 2020 is sourced from a single Estate vineyard the Ste—Philippe in the Arroyo Seco AVA inside the Monterey AVA again inside the Central Coast AVA of California. Arroyo Seco translates to “dry creek” and is south of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA.

Hahn Estate Wines was founded in the Santa Lucia Highland AVA in 1980 and owns six certified sustainable vineyards inside the Monterey County AVA. The Hahn Appellation Series Arroyo Seco Pinot Noir 2020 selection of wines is intended to showcase their Arroyo Seco estate vineyards.

The Arroyo Seco AVA is on low relatively flat land with soil that features ancient river stones. This AVA is close (40 miles) to the Pacific Ocean and has cool temperatures and a long growing season, which is exactly what Pinot Noir Grapes crave.

The Hahn Appellation Series Arroyo Seco Pinot Noir 2020 was fermented in stainless steel tanks and then transferred to French oak barrels for 11 months.

I found this Pinot Noir selling for $16.99 in Chicago which is an excellent price for a single vineyard estate wine from a family-owned and operated winery that has been in operation for 43 years. The alcohol content is a ripe 14.5%.
