Angels & Cowboys Rosé 2015

The cheap-wine-angels-cowboys-bAngels & Cowboys 2015 Rosé is a deliciously dry rosé of Grenache, Merlot, Verdot (the petit kind) and Grenache Blanc sourced from three distinct AVAs in Sonoma County, California – Carneros, Alexander Valley, and Dry Creek Valley.

This rosé is one of my faves for a few reasons. Reason #1 – she has a familiar face. Not the steer skull on the label – I’m talking Messrs. Yoav Gilat & Dennis Hill. The co-founders of Cannonball Wine Company teamed up with Michael Schwab of Michael Schwab Studios out of Anselmo, California, a graphic art firm whose prolific work you’ve most likely seen (Super Bowl 50 logo, anyone)?

Reason #2 – the name reminds me of “Angels & Reverse Cowgirls”, so that alone makes me smile. That’s definitely one of my go-to’s with a great view. If you’re wondering what the hell

I’m talking about, Google that shit.

She’s a Provençal method rosé so we’re talking cold soaking and skin contact, which plays right into a great night of Angels and Reverse Cowgirls. Seriously though, that’s what gives her the lovely “oeil de perdrix” or “eye of partridge” color – a pink and pale gray.

Her scent is like walking down a dirt road in Texas with a grapefruit farm on one side and a field of wildflowers on the other. Or perhaps she’s wearing that Burberry perfume we’re so fond of. Spicy-floral!

She’s complex – risque, playful and saucy. She’s got that Provençal minerality, the tart and soft fruits like cran-straw-cherry-berry, and you know she has a full body that’s silky AF! Great, vivacious acidity with amazing length gives her a well-deserved finish. Not just an amazing rosé – an amazing wine – any wine, at this price. Drink it with a spicy Asian or even a Midwestern meat with grill marks on it. She’s also delicious to enjoy all by herself.
