Cupcake Prosecco DOC

March 8, 2022 by Domaine Dave Leave a Comment

The Cupcake Prosecco DOC is part of a curated line of wines from Cupcake Vineyards which is one of The Wine Groups‘ families of brands. They have Cava from Spain, Pinot Grigio from the foothills of the mountains in far north Italy, a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, you get the idea, all under the Cupcake Vineyards name.

Cupcake Prosecco DOC

All the wines have the same head winemaker giving the entire line of wines continuity and if you like one wine there is a good chance you will enjoy others. They have a wine that appeals to a wide audience, from classic wines to specialty wines like Black Forest or Red Velvet Red wines to canned wine.

I recently saw a poll where Cupcake Vineyards was one of the five most popular wine brands and it makes sense, they have something for everyone.

The Cupcake Prosecco DOC is a dry or not sweet wine, 2/3 rds of all Prosecco produced are on the sweet side, but wine drinkers in the US seem to like the drier style. Cupcake Vineyards do not go into any detail about the production of this Prosecco, it is not that kind of wine. This is a wine brand that folks buy because it is reliable, readily available, and tastes good.

If second fermentation lasted four weeks or six weeks is not a question most people are asking (other than me). The Cupcake Prosecco DOC is a well-priced (around $10 to $12) Italian Sparkling wine that can be counted on to provide an enjoyable drinking experience. The alcohol content is mild (and proper for Prosecco) 11%.

The Cupcake Prosecco DOC Tasting Notes

The color is pale gold with a little silver. The nose is lemons, grapefruit, apple, pear, a little ripe peach, and nectarine. The Cupcake Prosecco DOC a very balanced Bubbly with solid flavor and good length.

This Prosecco tastes like lemon curd, pink grapefruit, lime, apple, and light spice. The mid-palate shows a creamy sensation, tangerine, and pear. The acidity allows the flavors to fully roll out and will tempt you to take the next sip.

The Summary

  • I can see why the Cupcake Prosecco DOC is a popular Bubbly, it tastes great, it gives you everything you want from a value-priced Sparkling wine.
  • This is an excellent base for Bellini’s, French 75’s and other Bubbly based cocktail concoctions.
  • Drinking the Cupcake Prosecco DOC makes me want to try other wines in their portfolio.
