2010 Five Rivers Chardonnay

205231The 2010 Five Rivers Chardonnay is sourced from more than one California grape growing AVA and recently won Best Chardonnay at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, it should sell for about $11. Five Rivers is one of Fetzer Vineyards brands ( Fetzer is owned by Vina Concha y Toro from Chile) and a portion of Five Rivers sales goes to charities for woman’s issues, mainly Breast Cancer. This is a Chardonnay that sees some sort of oak conditioning, but Five Rivers does not give much information on the making of this wine. The alcohol content is 13.5%.

The color is very pale, almost clear butter yellow. The nose is bright citrus and apple. It tastes of both tart citrus and smooth mango and pear. The mid palate adds a slight hint of minerality and a little creamy vanilla. The finish is crisp, clean and long.

The 2010 Five Rivers Chardonnay is a nice blend of tart and smooth, rounded flavors. Not layered or complex, but very tasty and refreshing, with a light touch of oak.
