2010 Fess Parker Riesling

2010SBCRieslingThe 2010 Fess Parker Riesling is 100% Riesling sourced from 83% Camp Four Vineyard and 17% Rodney’s Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley AVA of Santa Barbara County, California. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. Fess Parker had been making wine in Santa Barbara County since 1987 and this isn’t just a celebrity label, it is a family run winery. The alcohol content is 12%.

The color is almost clear syrup. The nose peach, pear, lemon, faint banana and mineral dust. The mouthfeel is slightly oily and the initial taste makes you think this is going to be a sweet Riesling, but it immediately takes a turn toward dry. It tastes of fresh peach pear, apple and lime, rounded, but bright soft flavors, not crisp and tart. There is a nice hit of minerality on the mid-palate and the finish is subdued and lengthy.

The Fess Parker Santa Barbara Riesling is a solid, delicious wine with nice depth and a little complexity. This is a versatile wine, bring it to your favorite BYOB Asian joint and keep it mind for your Thanksgiving meal.
