The Intermingle Red Blend 2020 is a $6.99 Aldi wine, a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from multiple vineyards in California. Aldi trademarks the Intermingle name, but the wine seems to be produced by Sutter Home wines which is part of Trinchero Family Estates and this is an award-winning wine.

Intermingle Red Blend 2020

I don’t pay too much attention to wine award shows, but a Silver medal at the Sommelier Choice Awards is not too shabby for a $6.99 Aldi wine. There are no production or tasting notes for the Intermingle Red Blend 2020, but that Trinchero thought enough of this Red blend store brand to enter in wine award competition means something.

So, while there is no story to tell about this wine let’s go to the tasting portion to see what this Red blend is about. The alcohol content is 13.5%.

The Intermingle Red Blend 2020 Tasting Notes

The color is garnet red with black highlights. The nose is ripe red berries, a little herb, a little spice, blackberry, and black pepper. The Intermingle Red Blend 2020 soft, smooth Red blend, not complex but with good flavor.

This Red blend tastes like blackberry, tart cherry, a little slap of spice, black pepper, and plum. The mid-palate does not differ much from the main body of this blend but does show blueberry and tart cranberry. The tannins pull just a touch on the mid-palate and the acidity is well-balanced.

The Summary

  • The Intermingle Red Blend 2020 is a very drinkable 7-buck Red blend.
  • It had good fruit and just enough structure to be interesting.
  • This wine is a bargain!
