Black Ridge Vineyards Pinot Noir

56481The Black Ridge Vineyards Pinot Noir is mostly Pinot Noir blended with a little bit of Syrah and sourced from vineyards in Mendocino, Monterey and Sonoma. This is a non-vintage wine produced by ADS Wines to retail for under 10 bucks. There are 3 Black Ridge Pinots on the market, one from New Zealand, a boutique winery from California and this one, none of them are related. A non-vintage wine allows the winemaker to keep the costs down and helps the flavor profile be consistent year in and year out. The alcohol content is 13%.

The color is cherry cordial red. The nose is red Twizzlers, ripe strawberry and a light touch of herbs. This is a dry wine, but with very ripe fruit flavors. It tastes of a combination of ripe cherries and herbal tea, not complicated, but refreshing and enjoyable. The tannins are soft and the acidity is subtle. This is a very easy to drink wine. This is not one of those inexpensive Pinots that give you a taste of the expensive Pinot Noir, this is a light to medium Red wine that tastes good and goes down easy. There is nothing about it that really stands out, but you find yourself reaching for your glass to take the next sip.

Don’t tell anyone, but there is absolutely no correlation between the cost of wine and the quality of wine.
