2009 Gordon Brothers Organic Sauvignon Blanc

Sav-Blanc-09The 2009 Gordon Brothers Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from a 100 acre, certified organically grown Estate Vineyards located in the Columbia Valley of Washington State. A small production wine, only 940 cases made. The wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks and different yeasts were used in each individual vat, the various yeast impose slightly different characteristics to each batch of Sauvignon Blanc and bring added depth and nuances to the wine when the different tanks of Sauvignon Blanc are blended together. The alcohol content is 13.5%.

The color is light, clear, see-thru yellow. The nose is a mix of lemon chiffon, key lime  and flower blossoms. The wine is crisp and clean on the palate, pineapple and pear upfront, slightly sweet. The mid-palate is lemon/lime, tart, not sweet, the acidity is well balanced and helps the finish linger for a respectable length of time. A very balanced Sauvignon Blanc, not overly fruit forward.

The Gordon Brothers Organic Sauvignon Blanc is a classy, well made wine. All the bells and whistles, organic grapes, well established Estate Vineyards, small batch, hand crafted wine, and selling for around $14. The Gordon Brothers Sauvignon Blanc may be hard to find, if you are interested in purchasing the wine check out the Gordon Brothers Website.
